Inspiration & Shopping
My favorite pastimes are travel, shopping, and vintage clothing. I am constantly gathering ideas and driving the creative direction in new and exciting ways. I conduct market research by reviewing runway shows, making regular shopping trips, and attending trade shows such as PV, Kingpins, and Texworld.
Color, Print, & Fabric
I have always been a member of small design teams where fabric research and development have been essential to my role. I gather ideas while shopping and work with PD and sourcing teams to find sustainable and cost-effective options.
Adding texture and depth to a collection with unique applications of color and print is my specialty. I work with a talented group of textile artists, vintage dealers, and print houses from where I pull ideas and collaborate to execute my vision.
Embroidery
Whether subtle, over the top, hand, or machine, embroidery offers another layer of storytelling and energy to a garment. I especially enjoy working with crafts people, some of whom learned their particular type of embroidery or beading through generations of their family developing a single technique.
Sketches
Sketching culminates silhouette, technique and fabric into a clear representation of concept and direction at sketch review. Creating CADs in Illustrator allows me to thoroughly merchandise the collection and ensure that line plans are met successfully.
Fit
Once tech packs and specs are released, there is much anticipation to see a tangible result - A garment! I enjoy the collaborative spirit of fittings, and the invaluable information that is exchanged during these sessions.
